Virtual Walking Tour



It's time to start walking and getting fit!



I was solving my daily digital jigsaw puzzle on Jigidigi.com, when I got inspired to get up and start my walking program today. It was a splendid shot of the boardwalk of the Lower Lower Yosemite Falls Trail with a spectacular view of Yosemite Falls, in Yosemite National Park, California.

 

My Why- Get healthy!

I need to lower my blood pressure and lose some weight. My blood pressure has never been so high before...but I’ve never been as inactive before either.


Lower Lower Yosemite Falls Trail

The trail is 1 mile long with an elevation change of 50 feet. It takes you close enough to the falls that you can feel the spray of the falls.
California is a bit far to get to from SC, so I started a virtual walking tour. I will seek out different trails similar to this one and start accumulating some miles and watching BP and BMI.
According to the Spark People blog article “What music will help me walk a 15 minute mile?”
you can choose music according to BPM (beats per minute) and the pace you want to accomplish.

For example, if I wanted to walk the mile in 30 minutes, I would be walking at apace of 2 mph and would chose music with 80-100 beats/steps per minute.

 LEVEL 1: VERY INACTIVE: 80-100 steps per minute = 2 mph (30 minute mile)
 LEVEL 2: LIGHTLY ACTIVE: 120 steps per minute = 3 mph (20 minute mile)
 LEVEL 3: MODERATELY ACTIVE: 130 steps per minute = 3.5 mph (17-18 minute mile)
 LEVEL 4: ACTIVE: 140 steps per minute = 4 mph (15 minute mile)
 LEVEL 5: VERY ACTIVE: 150 steps per minute = 4.3 mph (14 minute mile)
 LEVEL 6: EXCEPTIONALLY ACTIVE: 160 steps per minute = 4.6 mph (13 minute mile)
 LEVEL 7: ATHLETE: 170 steps per minute = 5 mph (12 minute mile)
 LEVEL 8: ATHLETE: 180 steps per minute = 5.5 mph (11 minute mile)
 LEVEL 9: ATHLETE: 190 steps per minute = 6.0 mph (9-10 minute mile)
